Program Overview
The International Studies Program is an undergraduate program offered by the Consortium for Transatlantic Studies and Scholarship (CTSS) in collaboration with Instituto Franklin-UAH.
The program aims is to promote knowledge and understanding of the historical, cultural, political, economic and social relations between both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a comprehensive international nature since it involves professors and students from different universities around the world. All courses explore specific topics from an international perspective. Classes take place in Spain, so participants can have a unique experience of in-depth immersion into the country’s customs, traditions, language and culture.
Spring 2026-Program Cost: €6,986 (approximately $8165 plus airfare, personal spending money and wire transfer fees of 7%)
The cost of the program includes:
- Tuition (4 courses, 12 US credits).
- Housing in dorms (including three meals a day). The cost of the program can vary depending on the type of room
- Health insurance.
- Academic transcript and certificate of participation.
- Cultural visits and excursions.
- Orientation sessions.
- Airport pick-up (date and time set by Instituto Franklin-UAH)
- Student ID and Transportation Cards
Program Requirements
- Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to study abroad.
- Your passport must be valid until at least one month after the completion date of the program.
- This program is less than 90 days and usually students do not need to obtain a student visa. But depending on your country of origin it might be required. It is highly recommended that you check with your local Spanish Consulate about the visa requirements, prior to applying to the program.
- If you decide to stay for the entire semester and enroll in a fifth course from the Study Abroad Program you will need a student visa.
- It is highly recommended that students have a basic command of the Spanish language for living in Spain but courses are taught in English.
- Students must be in good academic standing at SRU.
- Disciplinary files will be requested from the Office of Student Conduct, for each applicant, and will be taken into consideration during the review process.
- Please make sure to check with the Financial Aid (if applicable) for academic and other requirements that pertain to potentially receiving aid during your study abroad experience.
Academic Information
The program is structured in block sessions. 3 courses are offered per block, of which the student chooses one course in each block. All students will be enrolled in an “Introduction to Spain” course. All courses are instructed in English and the program is less than 90 days. , therefore there is no need to obtain a student visa. However, it is the responsibility of the student to ask at the nearest Spanish Consulate if a student visa is required.
